Avero's Server Scorecard gives you actionable information about the sales performance of each server, bartender, or cashier on your team. It is like a baseball stats card, rolling up key information about performance so that you can coach your team to improve average check.
In this article, the following will be discussed:

Analyzing the Server Scorecard
When viewing the Scorecard of a server, there are 4 main tabs that provide insight.
Summary tab
The Summary tab gives an overview of the following:
- Total sales
- Void/Promo %, compared to the rest of the team
- Cover/Check volume
Categories tab
The most informative details are contained under the Categories tab, where you see category detail. Within this tab you can see the following:
- Item/Cov %
- Item/Chk%
- Avg Check (Covers)
- Avg Check (Checks)
In order to help your server improve product knowledge and confidence, you want to identify categories that the server has the greatest opportunity for improvement.
Payments tab
The Payments tab is great for learning more about server performance. From this tab, you can compare your server's percentage of checks paid in cash (over a certain time period) to the team. This is important as it helps identify red flags for theft.
Example: If your server has significantly less cash sales than their peers, we recommend looking into if this server also has high promotion and void usage. This server could be voiding off items on cash tickets in order to pocket the amount voided or promoted.
Party Size tab
The final tab of the Server Scorecard shows how this server compares to the team in performance by Party Size. The Party Size metric uses the cover count entered on each check, to help you understand how each server performs by party size. If you find out your server has a higher average check or tip percentage with 2-4 guests versus 6 plus this should influence the sections that you give them during your busiest shifts.
In the below image, you can see Brittany's average check by party size. The performance of her peer set is also shown. This will help articulate any areas of variance.

Using the Server Scorecard
When using the Server Scorecard, you want to understand the following two metrics:
- Average check (Covers) shows the average dollar amount sold to each guest per category. It helps to think about this metric in terms of what makes up your perfect check for your restaurant. For example: if you expect each person to order a cocktail, appetizer, and entrée and the average item price of each item is $10, than your goal is to have an average check per cover of $40.
- Item/Cover % is a great way to measure the percentage of guests that order items from your focus category. If you had 5 guests and sold 2 of them a steak, you would have a 40% item/cover % for steak
What happens if multiple servers ring items onto a single check?
If one server opens a check and another closes it, the sales and items will belong to the server that closes the check. If multiple servers are ringing items into a check, the sales for any Service or Contest reporting will belong to the server that closes the check.
