Reporting by Party Size
Available in: Professional subscriptions only
This section of Avero allows you to break down check count, turn time, average check, and tip percentage by party size so you are able to see how servers on your team perform with different types of groups. Party sizes are based on the guest count entered on each check in your POS.
In this article, the following topics will be discussed:
Running a Party Size Report
We recommend running the Party Size report on a monthly basis to understand the servers that are most successful with small versus large parties. We know that every server wants large parties but, for success, large parties should be assigned based on performance. Running this report will help each server utilize their strengths to drive more revenue for the business and make more in tips.
Like every Avero report, the Party Size report has a unique Report Generator to help you filter your results. Once you've made your choices, hit the Go button.
For instructions on how to utilize the Report Generator, reference this article.
Using Meal Period, Employee Class, and Party Size Filters
- Use the Meal Period and Employee class filters so that you are comparing like groups for this analysis.
- You can start with leaving Party Size at 0-6 covers to check which servers are not properly counting covers (entering zero cover checks) as well as identifying which servers excelling with 2 tops versus 6 tops. However, you can also expand to show all cover sizes to see which servers have been the most successful with large parties.
Using the Metrics Filter
This report defaults to Gross Average Check per Cover so you can evaluate if servers are reaching your team average check goal. However, you can also adjust your metrics to evaluate turn time, total sales, or tip percentages as well.
- The turn times metric provides an understanding of how much time each server is spending with each table.
- The tip percentages metric helps you identify how successful a server is by table size as well as highlight any opportunities for improvement.
- The check Count metric is a great way to identify if your servers are counting covers correctly. You can use this metric to identify if servers are counting zero cover checks which will skew check averages.
For more information on Metrics, access the Metrics page.
Excluding Employees
If you notice any servers in your results who are no longer with your restaurant, worked limited shifts during the time period, or are still in training, you can check the box by the server name to exclude them from the report. If you exclude someone by accident you can always add them back into the report.
Viewing the Party Size Report
Once you edit all filters and press go, you the Party Size report will populate. When viewing the report, keep the following in mind:
