What does 'installation' mean for Avero?
Avero connects your POS sales (and sometimes labor) data to your business in the Avero platform. Installation refers to creating and verifying this data connection. The tasks of installation vary by system type, and generally follows one of four basic paths, click the bold title for more information:
- On-Demand Installation - Select on-premise POS systems are available to be installed on your schedule. Instead of waiting for a technician, you can download and install our software locally on your POS server in 8-10 minutes. Then an Avero technician verifies the data and confirms with you.
- On-Premise - Some on-premise systems are more complex, and these require you to create the database connection and book a time with an Avero technician to remotely access your server to install our software and test the data connection. These appointments can create wait time or delays for installation so being prepared and on-time is important!
- Cloud Systems - Most cloud POS systems have a way for you to enable data access to third-party vendors. For these systems, Avero gives you the instructions to grant us access, then you'll schedule a time for an Avero technician to complete and test the data connection.
- Export Systems - Some systems create and send a daily export of your sales data, and Avero processes this export to load into Avero. These installations require you to request your POS provider enable an export to send to us and, once the export is coming in, you'll schedule a time for Avero to make the data connection. The amount of time it takes to enable the export varies by POS provider.
What kind of system do I have?
See our list of *Avero POS Integrations and select your system to view the POS Guide for your system. This will outline all information you need about how your system integrates with Avero, including what type of system it is, how it gets installed, and what you'll do for maintenance such as when you change or add meal periods or revenue centers.
When do I need installation or reinstallation?
Installation is required to get data flowing into Avero, so you'll need to have an installation performed when your business first joins Avero, and for each location you add.
Reinstallation is required any time:
- POS System is changed - if you move to a different / new POS System we will need to install Avero on your new system
- On-Premise POS systems receive hardware updates - software updates generally do not require a reinstall but any hardware updates (new server, reimaged server, upgraded server, etc) will
- Avero is uninstalled - if you uninstall Avero's DEU from your on-premise POS server, a new installation will be required to get data flowing again
I'm changing or upgrading my system, if I think I need a reinstall, how do I get one?
Open a support request and let them know:
- Your current POS System
- The new system you'll be moving to, or the upgrades/changes being made
- The date of the switch / change
They will open a request with the installs team and send you the relevant system instructions. Please inform Avero Support as soon as you know the system is changing. It can take time to gather the information and perform the necessary actions. Same-day installations are never available so please do not wait until the system has changed to inform the Avero Support team.
How long does installation take?
Installation itself takes very little time and varies by system. Most of your time commitment will be in the preparation steps and awaiting your appointment or waiting for your POS servicer to enable the relevant export.

You'll complete the Pre-Install Checklist followed by the Avero Installation Instructions and schedule an appointment for Avero to review your data and confirm. On-Premise - installation appointments are for an hour (completed by an Avero install technician), data is available in Avero the day of the appointment. Complete the Pre-Install Checklist and schedule your appointment as soon as possible. Appointments are usually available within 2 weeks of today's date.
Export - installations occur at the scheduled time and data is available the day of the appointment. Installations cannot be scheduled until the export is being received daily, make take a couple of weeks for your POS provider to complete this once requested. Appointments are usually available within 1 week of today's date.
