To make changes to your POS System without interrupting your access to data in Avero, make sure to follow these steps. Even if you are keeping the same system, upgrading to a new server will require reinstallation. All of your data from both the old and new systems will exist together in Avero after migration to the new system.
- Before moving to a new system, check that the ones you are considering are on our Supported Systems List.
- The most common systems are available for self-install, which means as soon as you know the date of your migration so can begin working on the Pre-Install Checklist and prepare to install the Avero utility on your new server as soon as it is installed at your restaurant. This is fast and free!
- If you have a system that requires Avero assistance for installation, open a ticket with Avero Support. Inform us of the need for a reinstall as soon as you know the date of your migration. Scheduling a reinstall usually takes 5-10 business days so plan ahead! Some installations may have a cost associated with them.
- Follow the installation guidelines for your new system on the installation date to avoid a gap in data (links below).
Avero Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT: Some systems limit the amount of past data Avero can pull, so make sure to plan ahead and be ready on the migration date. Waiting to inform Avero until the new system is installed can lead to unrecoverable gaps in your data. Installation is never available same day! If you inform us after changing systems you may be without data for some time!
Will I lose any of my old data, migrating to a new server or system?
No! Avero maintains your historical data for you so it will remain available, just as it appears now, after migrating to a new server or system. If you are changing systems, your new system may send information differently, and you will see those changes reflected in the new data but the old data will remain as-is. Even if you change to a totally new system!
We need to make sure to capture the last day of data before you install on your new system, so make sure you know when the go-live/install date of the new system is, inform us in advance of changing, and update us if you postpone for any reason to make sure you don't lose even 1-day of data.
Are there any data points or features that won't be available on my new system?
If you are moving to a new server or updated version of the same POS, you should continue to see your data as you normally do.
If you are changing systems, you should review the POS Guides for your new system to compare. Not all systems supply the full range data points and only some systems send us labor data. Make sure to check on what is most useful to you!
