Managing your finances is essential to ensuring the success of your business. But how much time are you spending creating and managing budgets? Is your team on the same page as you prepare or go through tedious P&L statements? And, do you really know how to identify which aspects of your business are harming your profits?
Avero’s Group P&L feature empowers you to streamline your planning and analysis processes so you can track daily P&L performance in real time, and drill down to specific sources of profit and loss for your businesses.
In this article, the following topics will be discussed:
Running a Group P&L Report
Group P&L is located under the Finance module in Avero. You will want to make sure you've entered your budget for the year before attempting to run this report. The default setting on this report will show you the most recent data related to your budget. You will also see:
- Actual Amount sold or spent
- the Budgeted Amount
- the % Variance.
Like every Avero report, Void Summary has a unique Report Generator to help you filter your results using metric filters. This is the meat of your report. Each report within Avero has a defined number of metrics that can be included in one report. We have defined all of the metric options on the Metrics page.Once you've made your choices, hit Go. For instructions on how to utilize the Report Generator, reference this article.
Using Attributes and Tags
Attributes and Tags are fully customizable and will help you organize all of the businesses within your enterprise, into distinct groups based on similar characteristics.
Example: if a "Region" attribute is selected, then the next step would be to select the specific region you want to analyze. Once selected, the businesses with that pertain to that specific region will group together. Tags will then extract businesses from that grouping.

Viewing the Group P&L Report
In Avero, the visualization of the Group P&L report is a fantastic way to understand how costs across all areas impact your net income. The information is displayed as a waterfall chart and subtracts all costs from your gross sales for the time period.
The Group P&L report also displays in a table format. The table view gives more insight about how your Gross Sales and Costs compared to your budget for the time period. When viewing the table, keep the following in mind:
- Budget Metrics are displayed in the leftmost column.
- Use the +/- buttons to expand a metric and see your list of businesses.
- The first column to the right of your business names will reflect the Actual Amt for the time frame you entered in the Report Generator.
- The next column will be the Budgeted Amt and the third column displays the Variance.
