Avero Payment Report
Available in: All subscription levels
Running a report on payment types is a great way to keep an eye on your payments as well as any promotions or discounts being applied to your checks. This article will discuss the following topics:
What is a Payment?
A Payment is a method used to settle a check and will include the total value applied to the check. That means it includes not only the sales, but also the taxes and tips. Payments will always be higher than sales.
Payments include Tenders such as Credit Cards and Cash and other methods used to settle checks such as Gift Cards and Comps/Promotions.
Running a Payment Types Report
You can find Payment Types under the Sales in the navigation bar. This report will show you a breakdown of your payments, promotions, and payables.
Apply the appropriate filters: date, revenue center, meal period, using the Report Generator.
For instructions on how to utilize the Report Generator, reference this article. We have defined all of the metric options on the Metrics page.

Understanding the Payment Types Report
The Payment Types visualization will be displayed as a pie chart. Keep the following in mind as you view the chart:
- Use the drop-down menu on the left side to toggle between the metrics you chose.
- To isolate payment or promotion types, click on the colored bubbles next to the ones you'd like to remove from the chart.
The table version of the Payment Types report will list out all payments, promotions, and payables. Payables includes items you collect payment on but are expected to pay out, such as Service Charges or Taxes, that should not be considered Revenue.
- Click on the payment type name, which is hyperlinked and highlighted in blue, to find all of the checks associated with a certain payment type.
Taxes in the Payments Reports
At the bottom of your Payments Report, under Payables, you will find a listing of all your Tax Types as setup in your POS. You can collapse or Expand Tax Types to view how much you collected in each type of tax.
In House Guests vs OutsideGuests
If looking to identify the volume or incremental spend of in-house guests (guests staying in on-site lodging), the Payment Types report will allow you to see which guests used in-house charges, such as Room Charge or House Account.
If an in-house guest pays with cash or card, however, the only way to filter out that information would be to add a proactive measure - such as an order type, that servers could enter when they discover an in-house guest.
Tax-Exempt Charges
If you have tax-exempt items set up in your POS, you can view all the checks that have ordered a tax-exempt item using our Check Search tool. Scroll down to the Tax Amount box, enter equal to 0 and Go. This will bring up all the checks in your specified time period that have Tax = $0. Learn more about Check Search here.
If you would like to view tax exempt items in an item sales report, either create a Category within your POS that brings them together or use Avero to create a Custom Category. Learn more about Custom Categories here.
