How Do Gift Card Sales Work?
Gift Cards as Service Charges
Service charges are payables that come through with payment information. Some purchases get set up as Service Charges when you want to track a non-revenue payment, such as Gift Cards.
If Gift Cards or Non-Revenue Items are setup in your POS as items, then Avero will bring them in as items. There is no way for us to distinguish between regular items and non-revenue items.
Note: You can view POS specific information on service charges and gift card setup by selecting your system in our Knowledge Base.
Gift Cards and Gross Sales
Gross Sales is the total of all item sales for the time period. This does not include things like Gift Cards, only items sold. Gross Sales represents only the menu items people are buying. These items would be reflected in Payments reporting because payments were made but items weren't sold.
Viewing Gift Card Sales in Payments Report
Running a report on payment types is a great way to keep an eye on your Gift Card Sales
You can find Payment Types under the Sales in the navigation bar.
Service Charges such as Gift Cards will be listed in the Payables Category in the Payment Types Report table.
