What are Avero Standard revenue centers and meal periods for?
Avero pulls data from a wide variety of organizations - from bagel shops with a couple locations to large casinos and cruise ships with dozens of outlets per location. To facilitate incorporating data-driven decision making across large or disparate groups, we have Avero Standard meal periods and revenue centers in addition to the 'Actual' which are the ones pulled from directly from the POS and represented as received in your exported data.
Avero Standard options allow you to normalize data across discreet venues. For Example, all of your Hotel Bar Revenue Centers which likely have different names in your POS. You may also have "Dinner" spelled or named differently across properties and different POS systems.

How do I find out which Standard designations my Actual RVC/Meal Periods route to?
Run a sales report in Avero for the business(es) you are looking to uncover this information for. In the Report Generator, Select the Actual (POS) meal period or revenue center. Once selected, you can toggle to the Standard RVC/Meal Periods and see which Avero Standard RVC/Meal Period is selected.
Where or when would I use the Avero Standard instead of Actual? Why?
The most common time you would use Avero Standard meal periods and revenue centers is in setting up a Logbook Template. A template is designed to be used across multiple locations so it filters only by Avero Standard and not Actual (POS).
That way a template or a report set up with revenue centers 'Restaurant' and 'Bar' can be applied across an organization of 50 restaurants even though individual restaurants may use differing RVC terminology such as 'Dining Room,' 'Main Floor,' or 'Section B' all to mean 'Restaurant' and 'Lounge,' 'Bar,' 'Venue Name 2' all to mean 'Bar.'
For smaller groups or single restaurants, this may seem unnecessary but it is a huge help to our larger customers. If you don't need such normalization, simply set your snapshot filters on the Logbook to 'All' for both Revenue Center and Meal Period.
When running reports, if you have more than one location, you may choose to normalize the way the sales data is represented in these reports. For example, if I have three restaurants Example Cafe Sweet St, Example Bistro, and Example Cafe Main St. My Example Cafe locations both have three meal periods (Morning, Afternoon, Night) and two revenue centers (Sweet St has Coffee Bar and Cafe, Main St has Patio and Cafe). Example Bistro has two meal periods (Lunch, Dinner) and three revenue centers (Bar, Patio, Dining). If I want to run a Group Sales report with Actual meal periods and revenue centers each location's sales would be listed out by their actual meal periods and revenue centers and I would only have totals for the Total. If I run the same report with Standard I can have a simple report that aligns and totals my Patios together, and give
