Avero DEU (Data-Extraction Utility) Self-Update Procedure for On-Premise Systems
For use when:
- Incorrect data points when you are comparing Avero to your reports.
- Updating the Database password in Avero Software*
- Needing to Change Transfer Protocol Methods (FTP, FTPS, or HTTP).
- Encountering errors recovering Missing Data
- Options menu is requesting a password
*You must have the updated DEU version to allow changes to the Database password in Options
Process
Before you begin, ensure your IT department or POS Service has whitelisted our file in your firewall (for security purposes Avero cannot edit your firewalls)
- Log in with Administrator rights to the Server / Back-Office
- Open the Browser available and paste http://hfs.averoinc.com/public/averoupdate.exe
- If you are viewing this in a browser on the server, just click this LINK
- If you run into this error, contact your IT team or POS Servicer to make sure the file is whitelisted in the firewall.

If you have performed regular updates or are using a very recent DEU, open the DEU by double-clicking the Avero icon on your desktop, then use the UPDATE button:
A pop-up will ask if you want to close the DEU and open the updater, select Yes. The update will run automatically.
- Confirm that you want to RUN the utility
- Confirm RUN to open Command Prompt
- Command Prompt opens with Welcome Message. Runs a check to verify entities, confirms them in the dialogue window, asks Press Y to Confirm & Continue
- Enter Y
- Update Runs - you will see the window fill with text, this is the process running, take no action
- Once the update has completed, you will receive the Completion message
- Success! Launches DEU (verify version) and any key to close dialogue
- Error! This was ineffective, please open a ticket for assistance and escalation.

I clicked the link and nothing happened!
If you encounter an issue after clicking the link (file downloads but doesn't open, etc), follow these steps.
- You will need to locate the path to where the executable was downloaded. You can do that by clicking the arrow on the download and select
show in folder
- From there right click and go to Properties on the executable
- From there select the Unblock option, select apply and OK
- After that run the executable as an admin (you should be signed is as an admin user)
- Follow above instructions to finish.
