What are Merged Products within Avero?
Merge products are helpful when you have the same product you purchase from different vendors in a given period, or you have interchangeable products from within a vendor that you would like to count and reference as one product.
For example, you may order your beefsteak tomatoes from different vendors throughout the year, based on who is producing the best ones at that time. You need to use these tomatoes in your recipes as well as count them in your inventory so you can see an accurate COGS amount. Rather than update your inventory and product list each time you switch tomato vendors, you can use the Merge products function to identify them as one parent product. This new merged product will contain all the like-items and when you count inventory you will count just tomatoes, not tomato A tomato B, etc.. Likewise, you can add this product to your recipes and still deplete your tomato inventory each time those menu items are sold.
Please Note: When you add Merged Products to your Recipe, we will calculate that cost based on the Primary product's price. The Primary product is the sub-product within a merge that is in the first position. This can be adjusted from within the product list page when selecting the merged product you would like to update. When you take inventory of a merged product, the inventory value will be derived from the price of the primary product, while the purchasing will take into consideration the actual purchases throughout that period.
