Avero's Group Sales by Meal Period Report
Available in: Essentials and Professional subscriptions
Avero understands that your sales volume can fluctuate throughout the day and that depending on your concept, you probably have different sales expectations for different time periods of your day.
Avero's Group Sales by Meal Period report will help you track your locations’ sales during your different Meal Periods, across Revenue Centers, using your choice of metrics. This article will discuss the following topics:
Running a Group Sales by Meal Period Report
The Group Sales by Meal Period report is located under the Sales heading in Avero. Navigate to the sidebar in Avero and select "Group Sales by Meal Period".
Using the Report Generator
Like every Avero report, the Group Sales by Meal Period report has a unique Report Generator to help you filter your results. Once you've made your choices, hit the Go button.
For instructions on how to utilize the Report Generator, reference this article.
Using Attributes and Tags
Attributes and Tags are fully customizable and will help you organize all of the businesses within your enterprise, into distinct groups based on similar characteristics.
Example: if a "Region" attribute is selected, then the next step would be to select the specific region you want to analyze. Once selected, the businesses with that pertain to that specific region will group together. Tags will then extract businesses from that grouping.

Revenue Center and Meal Period Filters
After selecting the Date filter, you can choose to drill into sales by Revenue Center, Meal Period, or Order Type. These filters are reflective of your POS configuration and will allow you to make your reports more specific.
For example, you can use these filters to understand your dining room sales (RVC Filter) during dinner (Meal Period Filter) that were to-go orders (Order Type Filter).
Metric Filters
This is the meat of your report. Each report within Avero has a defined number of metrics that can be included in one report. We have defined all of the metric options on the Metrics page.
Viewing the Group Sales by Meal Period Report
Avero's Group Sales by Meal Period visualization will be displayed as a bar graph. When viewing the bar graph, keep the following in mind:
- A bar will represent each meal period.
- You can exclude certain meal periods by clicking the colored circle next to the Meal Period you'd like to exclude.
- Pin this to your Dashboard using the Speedometer icon.
The report will also display in a table format. When viewing the table, keep the following in mind:
- Businesses will be broken out in the column on the left-hand side, with the revenue centers listed below each business heading.
- Meal periods will be listed as column headers across the top row of the report.
- Use the - and + signs to collapse or expand certain businesses.
Why is the Trend date format not available? Why am I limited to only 1 metric in my Group Sales by Meal Period report?
Some of Avero's more complex reports don't offer the Trend date format, typically because the rows and columns are already filled with report metrics. For example in a Sales by Meal Period, the rows indicate the Businesses, Revenue Centers, and Metrics, and the columns display the Meal Period values for each, this does not leave room to easily view trended data. We recommend using higher-level reports to review trends and more granular, detailed reports to find action to take based on the insights from higher-level reporting, this is why Avero reports can always drill into more detail via the blue hyperlinks, all the way down to the individual guest checks that make up each sale in your report!
Dates and metric inclusion are limited in some more detailed reports to make sure the reports can easily be viewed and understood, and that they provide the valuable insights you need to operate your business successfully!
