With many closures, capacity limitations, and disruptions many food and beverage teams are struggling to identify reporting that will compare sales in a helpful way as businesses return to normal. Here are some of the frequently asked questions we have received regarding reporting around the Covid challenges.
- Can I change my logbook email to SDLW instead of SDLY?
- Can I report on short time frames instead of Year over Year?
- Can I report on Year over 2 Years ago instead of Year over Year?
- Is there a way to have my Logbook compare to 2019 instead of 2020?
Can I change my logbook email to SDLW instead of SDLY?
Your logbook can easily be toggled over to Same Day Last Week instead of Same Day Last Year in your Logbook Email Settings. Navigate to Logbook, then click the envelope icon and select Manage Emails, make the adjustment in the email setup box. Only the owner of the logbook email (user who set it up) can make this adjustment:
Can I report on short time frames instead of Year over Year?
Yes! There are several ways to manipulate the date settings for reports, see our guide on the topic:
This article guides you through narrowing your view to relevant sales, such as last week, last month, and custom date ranges.
Can I report on Year over 2 Years ago instead of Year over Year?
Yes, however, we do not have a dynamic date feature for comparing sales to 2 years ago so the reports cannot be automated. Instead, save the report and you can run it with one click and update the comparisons for subsequent runs.
The logbook comparisons cannot be customized, see our recommended solution below. If you have access to our Finance solution, you can create a 'Budget' of 2019 numbers and automate P&L reports to compare against this budget. For more information on that process see Budget Setup
Utilize our Custom field in Trend & Comparison to create the comparisons that would be most helpful to you:
For Trend Reports, select individual days on the calendar. You can mix & match days from prior months, quarters, last year, two years ago, or Mother's day for the last five years.
You can also compare entire weeks, months, weekend blocks, etc:
To compare custom ranges, Use the Comparison field and select Custom to define any ranges you'd like to compare in a single report:
Is there a way to have my Logbook compare to 2019 instead of 2020?
Logbook comparisons cannot be customized, we recommend adding a field to record the Same Day 2 Years Ago and having managers fill it in daily when adding shift notes to the logbook. This can be done easily by clicking SDLY twice and copying the sales, then clicking Today and posting the copied sales in the correct field.
